Downcast Podcast Subit: A Review of a Superior Podcasting App

As someone who has been using Downcast for some time, I was thrilled to discover its syncing capabilities with iCloud. However, my experience has not always been smooth sailing. Ever since I did something that I'm not quite sure what it was, syncing in Downcast stopped working again. Despite trying various troubleshooting methods, including logging out and back into iCloud and deleting files from iCloud, I was at a loss.

That's when I decided to take matters into my own hands and try reinstalling both apps and turning the syncing on and off. It took some fiddling around, but eventually, I got it to work again. The idea of having a desktop app that stayed in sync with my iPhone was one of the main reasons I chose Downcast over other podcast apps.

One of the things that sets Downcast apart from other podcasting apps is its synchronization feature. It allows me to create and manage multiple playlists, import mp3 and m4a files to create my own 'podcast' collection, and adjust playback location to skip ads and bumper music at the beginning and end of episodes. Additionally, I can control play speeds in 1/4x increments from 1/2 to 3x.

I've also been impressed with Downcast's ability to transfer podcasts seamlessly between my iPhone and MacBook Pro. When I turned on iCloud sync, all of my podcasts were transferred over without any issues.

What really sets Downcast apart, however, is its level of user control. The app provides an enormous amount of customization options for managing your podcast library, individual podcast behavior, and individual episode behavior. This level of control is unparalleled in other podcasting apps.

For those who may be experiencing issues with syncing, it's worth noting that the developer is very responsive to emails and does not prioritize feature requests. Overall, I'm extremely happy with my experience using Downcast and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a superior podcasting app.
